What do dreams really mean?

Dreams and fantasy are sometimes used interchangeably. Dreams are one of the most powerful and fascinating aspects of the human experience. Being a source of mystery and intrigue for centuries, theorists and researchers have been trying to unlock the hidden meaning behind them. To this day, scientists are still trying to decipher the age-old question
“What do dreams really mean?”
There is no simple answer to this question as every individual's dreams are unique and personal. Dreams reflect a person's thoughts and feelings as well as provide a glimpse into the future. People process the events of their day while dreaming and this can act as a coping mechanism for difficult times. Sometimes they can also provide hope, giving an individual a sense of clarity, direction or purpose.
Fantasy on the other hand is conscious imagination, tending to focus on ideas and situations that are either possible or highly likely. Fantasies are often used as a way to escape reality or to imagine a better one. Dreaming on the other hand is an unconscious process of having imaginary experiences while sleeping. They are symbolic, stemming randomly from experiences in one's life and are often perceived as being unexplainable. Dreaming can help in visualizing a path for the future by allowing one to tap into their subconscious. Dreams can be seen as a reflection of our inner thoughts, desires and fears. When one takes the time to process symbolic messages they can gain insight into their own motivations. Uncovering unresolved issues that remain in memory is a way to use dreams to unblock one's obstacles. By reflecting on dreams we can better understand ourselves, form better action plans and make decisions that will help steer our future in the desired direction.
To Achieve Your Dreams

Realize…Visualize…Actualize
Your thoughts create your reality.
Where your energy goes, your life flows.
REALIZE...what you want.
Before you go to sleep, set a goal you want to attain for yourself, be as specific as possible. Don’t worry about how it will happen. If you’re having trouble, start backwards with the desired result. Move on to all of the actions you need to take to achieve the outcome. Think thoughts you will need to create in order to generate the feelings that will motivate the actions. These are the obstacles that need to be attended to first before you can accomplish your results. Thinking about this before you go to bed will enable your brain to go to work finding the results while you’re sleeping. It is worth having a pen and pad near your bed so that when you wake you can record any and all information before it’s lost.
VISUALIZE...it happening in your life.
Describe the goal in as much detail as you can while awake. I recommend closing your eyes and taking a moment to really see this in your mind. Tap into how it would feel as well as what it would look like. The more specific you are the better… then jot it all down.
ACTUALIZE...it by creating an action plan.
What is one action you can take in the next few days to move you closer to creating this goal in your life? Put the day and time when you are going to complete this.
Remember…
Both the past and future exist only in our minds. Our relationships are just our thoughts about ourselves.
Who are you?
Where do you go to figure that out?
Probably the past.
You will tell me what you've done and what you have achieved. This is not who you are.
If you want to access the potential of who you can be, you will have to use your imagination and creativity which is accessed from the future. Stretch yourself beyond what you think is possible. Those constraints are from your past. Imagine often. Look to your future to ask your questions. Commit to action and try stuff until it works. Don’t indulge in feelings from your past that are not serving your future purpose.
Start changing your belief system which you created from your past thoughts, to intentional thoughts of the future. You will surely succeed.
A note about dream interpretations;
Most people when they have a dream, either don’t recognize anyone or anything in the dream OR if they do, get sidetracked into thinking that the people, places or things involved are the meaning of the dream.
Mostly, none of this is true.
Taking each individual person, object or place as a reflection of yourself will bring you closer to what the dream is trying to tell you. Using these mental formations, which the mind produces only because you are able to perceive them - gives us a path to dismantle those same physical formations and seek spiritual clarity about what they actually mean.
Good luck with that ;) Interesting huh?
